Leather Clutch Bag Workshop

We are so excited to welcome Rebecca Jane to the Studio for this fantastic new half-day workshop!

Have you been intrigued about making a leather handbag? Why not join our leather clutch course being led by Rebecca from the RJ Leather Studio.

During the course of this 4 hour course you will make your very own leather clutch bag from scratch using a normal domestic sewing machine.

You will have a choice of brown, black, navy blue, dark green, light grey or purple leather and hardware can be silver, antique brass or gold. Please notify us in advance which colour you would like to use.

Working with leather is very different from fabric for a number of reasons – so come along to learn all the new techniques, tips and tricks – from cutting, preparing and stitching leather to stabilizing, edge slicking and using adding metal hardware. The bag is all pre-cut ready to be assembled. It will be finished with a wrist handle and a leather tassle which you will also make.

All leather tools, bag making suppplies and hardware are provided. However to make your bag your own you are required to bring along a piece of fabric for the lining. This should be a light to medium weight cotton, if possible something with a bit of stability which will help the bag retain its structure but not anything too thick. You will need half a metre of lining fabric.

This workshop is suitable for anyone who would like to learn to sew with leather but you must be able to already use a sewing machine. If you are bringing your own machine please note that we will be using teflon feet. We will have a supply of universal snap on feet but please check if your machine needs a specific type of foot. One of our machines can be used if there are any issues.

Please note if you would like to purchase the pattern and instructions for this clutch they can be bought at the end of the course. Normally £15 but discounted to £10 if purchased on the day of the course.

Dates: Saturday 8th February 2020 9.30am – 1.30pm (Fully Booked)
