Description
This pattern is fun and easy to follow, and produces accurate results which makes the quilt easy to assemble.
A 1/4 inch seam allowance is used for every seam, producing a finished Quilt Size of 48 1/2 x 48 1/2 inches.
What do I need to bring?
A Jelly Roll with no less that 33 strips ( jelly roll strips must be the standard 2 1/2 inches wide to achieve the measurements stated above).
2 fat quarters of an accent/contrast fabric
Half a metre of fabric for the binding
3 metres of fabric for the backing
– We have lots of fabrics in the studio for accents and backing but we do not stock jelly rolls, so you will need to purchase this in advance. For her quilt Alison used Kaffe Fassett fabric, for similar there is great range of KF Jelly Rolls here.
1.4m x 1.4m wadding – available to purchase from the studio
Packed lunch – tea and coffee will flow freely and are readily available throughout the day. You are welcome to use our kettle/toaster/microwave in the studio kitchen.
What can I expect from the weekend?
On Saturday we’ll select 33 strips from the jelly roll and divide them into sets.
The sewn strip sets will then be divided into “jelly squares” and “jelly rectangles”.
From the accent fabric we’ll make the triangle corners.
Once all the pieces are cut we can start to assemble the blocks. Each block will measure 12 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches.
On Sunday we will finish making the blocks and then start to sew them together. How quick and confident you are at sewing will impact the amount of patchwork you will achieve on the days, but full written instructions will be provided. So you can continue work on your quilt at home if you need to.
